Uganda is still viewed
by many as a country with a problematic and unstable society regarding
the high incidence of AIDS and problems controlling rebel forces in
both the North and South of the country.
However, Uganda has
developed a very optimistic and pragmatic approach to it’s
problems over recent years which has put it in a very favourable light
with other countries worldwide.
Uganda is situated
directly on the equator resulting in it playing host to a variety of
landscapes. From the semi-desert in the North-East to the fertile
shores of Lake Victoria.
My project in Uganda
will involve me working in a home for disabled children. Here I will be
planning and structuring both social and educational activities whilst
also assisting with the day-to-day care of the children. I will be
living with local people in the local community and will be completely
immersed in this new andexciting culture. This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity!
My Ugandan project starts in the autumn/fall of 2009 and will last for 12months.
